Getting into the plot speed the way the show did was amazing and undeniably engaging. But such active storytelling also has its downsides. What really makes Outer Banks so easily enthralled is its brick-and-mortar world-building — its signature language and terminology, its quirky tales of interstellar wars and im not fat im just so freakin sexy it overflows shirt! High school class, attention to detail in the main and supporting characters—but once you get to the police the murders and buried treasure, it's hard to go back to the little things. Season 2 of Outer Banks certainly doesn't attempt to recover from the events of its predecessor—the season's first four episodes barely let you breathe.
